Is Small City Adventures kid-friendly?

Supervised children are welcome at any activities with Small City Adventures!

On Scavenger Hunts, we encourage groups to be mindful of children’s pacing. You may want to skip some sections of the Hunt, or decide to end it after a certain amount of time. Children should be supervised, especially when crossing streets during Scavenger Hunts (it can get exciting).

We are currently developing kid-friendly Scavenger Hunts that are shorter, have “kid-specific questions”, and involve no street crossings!

Content for Walking Tours is most suitable for middle school and up. Some young children may find Tours to be too long (1.5-2 hours, walking about 1 mile).

What are your Scavenger Hunts like?

Scavenger Hunts are great at drawing people together and transforming the landscape into a puzzle playground. Expect to walk 1-2 miles.

Hunts are played through an internet browser on your smartphone. You can play competitively on teams, or as a single cooperative group, or solo. You will need at least 1 phone with data for each team playing.

No apps are necessary. After purchasing a Hunt, you will be emailed a code that will give you access to the game (allow up to 1 business day for processing). You do not need a live guide - all instructions are in the game! Hunts can be scheduled on your own time. If bad weather delays your Hunt, you can reschedule.

Scavenger Hunts are ideal for:

  • Parties! Birthday Parties, Bachelor/Bachelorette parties, and more.

  • Workplace Team Building: split the office into teams and offer prizes.

  • Family outings: fun to do with kids and adults.

  • Beautiful weekends where you think, “There’s nothing to do” - a great way to get outside.

What are your Walking Tours like?

Walking Tours are for anyone who would enjoy learning and sharing stories on a walk through the city. We specialize in tours for those both new to the city and those who have lived here all their lives. Our tours create space to learn and to share your experiences. Expect to walk at least 1 mile on the tour, at your own pace. We specialize in tours for:

  • College groups

  • Religious groups

  • Field trips for Middle School, High School, and Adult Ed (including ESL)

  • Professional organizations

Scheduling your tour. For Private Tours, we can schedule within 48 hours, but when possible, we recommend requesting a week or more in advance to ensure your requested time is available. We prefer to run rain/shine but can negotiate if the weather or emergency requires rescheduling.
